Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Without disconnecting the intermediate steering shaft, lower the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Steering Column Replacement).
2. Remove the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement ().
3. Remove the nuts and position aside the accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip verification bolt (1).
5. Remove the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip (1).
6. Remove the brake pedal assembly nuts (1).
7. Disconnect the brake pedal pushrod.
8. Remove the brake pedal assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the brake pedal assembly nuts (1).
* For vacuum brake booster equipped vehicles, tighten the nuts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
* For hydraulic brake booster equipped vehicles, tighten the nuts to 36 Nm (27 lb ft)
3. Connect the brake pedal pushrod to the brake pedal.
4. Install the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip (1).
Rotate the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip to ensure the clip is fully engaged to the groove in the brake pedal clevis pin.
5. Install the brake pedal pushrod retaining clip verification bolt (1) and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).
6. Install the accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement ().
8. Install the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Steering Column Replacement).
