Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement).
2. Remove the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement (Bucket Seat Replacement).
3. Remove the center floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement).
4. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Defroster Grille Replacement).
5. Remove the front I/P speakers.
6. Remove the instrument panel center trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement).
7. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement).
8. Remove the ashtray/storage bin. Refer to Ashtray Replacement (Ashtray Replacement).
9. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement (HVAC Control Module Replacement).
10. Remove the left and right instrument panel insulator panels. Refer to and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side) and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side).
11. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement (Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement).
12. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement).




14. Remove the screws securing the instrument panel retainer to the carrier.





Note: Note the instrument panel wire harness routing.

15. Remove the screws securing the passenger side of the instrument panel retainer.
Two of the screws on the side are concealed by the retainer.




16. Remove the instrument panel retainer.

Installation Procedure




1. Locate the instrument panel retainer to the carrier.
2. Route the instrument panel wire harness in to the previous noted location.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the screws securing the passenger side of the instrument panel retainer and tighten to 9 Nm (18 lb in).




4. Install the screws securing the instrument panel to the carrier and tighten to 9 Nm (18 lb in).
5. Install the instrument panel storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement).
6. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement (Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement).
8. Install the left and right instrument panel insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side) and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side).
9. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement (HVAC Control Module Replacement).
10. Install the ashtray/storage bin. Refer to Ashtray Replacement (Ashtray Replacement).
11. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement).
12. Install the instrument center trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement).
13. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Defroster Grille Replacement).
14. Install the center floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement).
15. Install the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement (Bucket Seat Replacement).
16. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement)
