Circuit/System Description
The individual door control modules each receive a discrete input from there respective door ajar switch signal circuits. The door ajar switches are integral to each door latch. When a door is opened, the normally open door ajar switch closes. With the door ajar switch closed, ground is provided to the door ajar switch signal circuit. The door control module interprets this and communicates a serial data message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC). When a door is open/ajar and the vehicle is in any gear other than PARK, the driver information center (DIC) will display DRIVER DOOR AJAR, PASSENGER DOOR AJAR, LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR or RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR for the appropriate door that is opened. If the door is still ajar and the vehicle speed is greater than 5 km/h (3 mph) the door control module will send a serial data message to the IRC requesting a chime to sound.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameters while opening and closing each door. The parameter should change between Door Closed and Door Ajar.
If the parameter does not change while opening and closing the driver door, refer to Driver Door Ajar Malfunction.
If the parameter does not change while opening and closing the passenger door, refer to Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction.
If the parameter does not change while opening and closing the left rear door, refer to Left Rear Door Ajar Malfunction.
If the parameter does not change while opening and closing the right rear door, refer to Right Rear Door Ajar Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Driver Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door latch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal listed below and ground:
* RHD ground circuit terminal 3
* LHD ground circuit terminal 8
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
* RHD signal circuit terminal 1
* LHD signal circuit terminal 6
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground.
* RHD signal circuit terminal 1
* LHD signal circuit terminal 6
5. Verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
6. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the driver door latch.
Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door latch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal listed below and ground:
* RHD ground circuit terminal 3
* LHD ground circuit terminal 8
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
* RHD signal circuit terminal 1
* LHD signal circuit terminal 6
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground.
* RHD signal circuit terminal 1
* LHD signal circuit terminal 6
5. Verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PDM.
6. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the passenger door latch.
Left Rear Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the left rear door latch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 4 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the LRDM.
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground. Verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the LRDM.
5. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the left rear door latch.
Right Rear Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the right rear door latch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RRDM.
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground. Verify the scan tool Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RRDM.
5. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the right rear door latch.
Component Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate door latch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal and the ground terminal listed below with the door latch in the open position:
* RHD driver door latch terminal 1 and 3
* LHD driver door latch terminal 6 and 8
* LHD passenger door latch terminal 1 and 3
* RHD passenger door latch terminal 6 and 8
* LR door latch terminal 4 and 6
* RR door latch terminal 1 and 3
• If not the specified value, replace the door latch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal and the ground terminal listed below with the door latch in the closed position;
* RHD driver door latch terminal 1 and 3
* LHD driver door latch terminal 6 and 8
* LHD passenger door latch terminal 1 and 3
* RHD passenger door latch terminal 6 and 8
* LR door latch terminal 4 and 6
* RR door latch terminal 1 and 3
• If greater than the specified range, replace the door latch.
