J-37043 - Parking Brake Cable Release Tool
Removal Procedure
1. Block the rear drive wheels.
2. Release the electronic park brake cable tension, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Electric Park Brake) Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Electric Park Brake).
3. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
5. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
6. Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
7. Disconnect the park brake cable eye (1) from the park brake actuator lever.
8. Using the J-37043 - Parking Brake Cable Release Tool , compress the locking fingers on the park brake cable conduit (1) and remove the park brake cable from the bracket.
9. Using the J-37043 - Parking Brake Cable Release Tool , compress the locking fingers on the park brake cable conduit (1) and remove the park brake cable from the rear frame assembly bracket.
10. Disconnect the rear park brake cable fitting (2) from the park brake cable equalizer (3).
11. Remove the rear park brake cable,
Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear park brake cable,
2. Install the park brake cable conduit (1) to the rear frame assembly bracket.
Ensure the locking tabs on the park brake cable conduit are fully engaged to the bracket.
3. Connect the rear park brake cable fitting (2) the park brake cable equalizer (3).
4. Install the right rear park brake cable (1) to the bracket.
Ensure the locking tabs on the park brake cable conduit are fully engaged to the bracket.
5. Connect the park brake cable eye (1) to the park brake actuator lever.
6. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
7. Install the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
8. Set the electric park brake cable tension. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling (Electric Park Brake) Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling (Electric Park Brake).
