Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The system is designed so that when the operator approaches a locked vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter, the remote control door lock receiver will detect the keyless entry transmitter and when an exterior door handle is pulled the keyless entry control module will command the door to unlock and unlatch allowing the door to be pulled open.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Observe the scan tool RCDLR Ext. Driver Door Handle parameter and the Driver Door Switch Ext. Driver Door Handle parameter while pulling and releasing the exterior driver door handle. Both values should change from Inactive to Active each time the handle is pulled.
• If the value does not change, refer to Driver Exterior Door Handle Malfunction.
2. Observe the scan tool RCDLR Ext. Psgr. Door Handle parameter and the Passenger Door Switch Ext. Psgr. Door Handle parameter while pulling and releasing the exterior passenger door handle. Both values should change from Inactive to Active each time the handle is pulled.
• If the value does not change, refer to Passenger Exterior Door Handle Malfunction.
3. With the doors closed and locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and pull exterior left rear door handle or the exterior right rear door handle. The appropriate rear door should unlock with the first pull and unlatch with the second pull allowing the rear door to be pulled open.
• If a rear door does not perform as specified, refer to Rear Door Handle Switch Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Driver Door Handle Switch Malfunction
Note: Reconnect the X501 and X505 inline harness connectors located on the driver door panel prior to performing electrical diagnostics.
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
2. Test for less than 10 ohm between the ground circuit terminal C and ground
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Disconnect the harness connector at the driver door lock/window switch.
4. Ignition ON, verify that the scan tool RCDLR Ext. Driver Door Handle parameter is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal B for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the remote control door lock receiver.
5. Connect a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal B and ground, verify that the scan tool RCDLR Ext. Driver Door Handle parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the remote control door lock receiver.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
Passenger Door Handle Switch Malfunction
Note: Reconnect the X600 and X601 inline harness connectors located on the passenger door panel prior to performing electrical diagnostics.
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door handle switch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohm between the ground circuit terminal C and ground
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door lock/window switch.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door handle switch.
Rear Door Handle Switch Malfunction
Note: Reconnect the appropriate inline harness connector located on the rear door panel prior to performing electrical diagnostics.
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door handle switch.
2. Test for less than 10 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10 V between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the remote control door lock receiver.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear door handle switch.
Component Testing
Door Handle
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate A24 door handle assembly.
2. With the switch in the open position, test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1.
• If not the specified value, replace the A24 door handle assembly.
3. With the switch in the closed position, test for less than 5 ohm between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1
• If it does not perform as specified, replace the A24 door handle assembly.
