Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe and Hole Cover Installation




1. Install the seals (1) onto the engine coolant air bleed pipe.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

Note: Production engines use a rivet-type plug at the top rear coolant passage of each cylinder head. If service of a leaking plug is required, it is necessary to remove the cylinder head from the engine to properly remove the plug. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble 46. Cylinder Head Disassemble.

2. Install the pipes (1 and 2) and bolts (3) and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
3. As required, install either a NEW plug (4), or the earlier design coolant air bleed covers, bolts and gaskets. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble 49. Cylinder Head Assemble. If required, tighten the cover bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
