Gear Select/Skip Shift Solenoid Replacement

DT-49293 - Gear Select/Skip Shift Solenoid Remover/Installer

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
3. Remove the propeller shaft Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (RPO LSA) .
4. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
5. Remove the transmission support retaining fasteners from the vehicle body. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement (Manual except CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic RWD except CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Manual CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic AWD) .
6. Slightly lower the transmission to gain access to the solenoid. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement Service and Repair.




7. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connector (1).
8. Using the DT-49293 or equivalent, loosen the retaining bolt, then remove the bolt and the solenoid.

Installation Procedure




1. If removed, inspect the solenoid O-ring. Replace the O-ring if necessary.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the solenoid, then tighten the solenoid to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
3. Connect the solenoid electrical connector (1).
4. Install the transmission support to body retaining bolts. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement (Manual except CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic RWD except CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Manual CTS-V) Transmission Support Replacement (Automatic AWD) .
5. Remove the transmission jack.
6. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (RPO LSA) .
7. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
8. Lower the vehicle.
