Transmission Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
2. Remove the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (RPO LSA) .
3. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
4. Remove the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Lower the transmission assembly to gain access to the top of the transmission.
6. Disconnect the shift control assembly from the transmission. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement Shift Control Assembly Replacement.
7. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:

* Transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor
* Backup lamp switch
* Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
* Reverse lockout solenoid
* Gear select/skip shift solenoid

8. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic hose.




9. Remove the transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1, 4).
10. Remove the transmission from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the transmission to the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the transmission clutch housing to engine bolts and studs (1, 4) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
3. Connect the clutch hydraulic hose to the transmission.
4. Raise the transmission back into place.
5. Connect the shift control assembly to the transmission. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement Shift Control Assembly Replacement.
6. Connect the following electrical connectors:

* TFT sensor
* Backup lamp switch
* Vehicle Speed Sensor
* Reverse lockout solenoid
* Gear select/skip shift solenoid

7. Raise the transmission assembly.
8. Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement Service and Repair.
9. Remove the transmission jack.
10. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (RPO LSA) .
11. Check the transmission fluid and fill as necessary.
12. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LSA-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LSA-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Sedan/Wagon) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (LFX/LFW-Coupe) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (Single Exhaust) Service and Repair.
13. Lower the vehicle.
