Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V8)




Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V8)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front .
2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
3. Siphon the fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
5. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
6. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield if necessary. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) .
7. Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .




8. Remove the gear outlet hose bracket bolt (4).
9. Remove the bolt (2) from the gear inlet hose latch plate (3).
10. Reposition the plate.
11. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (5) from the steering gear.




12. Loosen the clamp (2) and remove the gear outlet hose from the cooler hose.
13. Remove the gear outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the power steering gear outlet hose (1) in the vehicle.
2. Install the gear outlet hose to the cooler hose with the clamp (2).




3. Install the gear outlet hose (5) to the steering gear.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the gear outlet hose bracket bolt (4) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Reposition the latch plate (3) onto the gear inlet and outlet hose fittings.
6. Install the latch plate bolt and tighten to 22.5 Nm (17 lb ft).
7. Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
8. If you removed the front compartment lower noise shield, install the shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) .
9. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
11. Remove the drain pan.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Install the front intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front .
