Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses input from the brake pressure sensor for more accurate control during a vehicle stability enhancement event. The brake pressure sensor is part of the brake pressure modulator valve.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Ignition ON.

* Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* Brake signal does not correlate with the pressure signal.

* Signal is erratic and changes faster than physically allowed.

Actions Taken when the DTC Sets

* A driver information center message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

* The electronic brake control module disables the ABS, the stability control and the traction control for the duration of the ignition cycle.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Verify DTC, C0277 or C0890 is not set.

If DTC is set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.

2. Verify the brake pedal position sensor or the brake pedal is not binding causing residual brake pressure to be detected, while the brake lights operate properly.

If a condition is found, repair or replace the applicable component.

3. Apply and release the brake pedal. Verify the brake lights operate properly.

If the brake lights do not operate properly, refer to Symptoms - Lighting Symptoms - Lighting

4. Verify DTC, C0131 is not set.

If DTC is set, replace the brake pressure modulator valve. If the DTC resets, replace the EBCM
