Differential Oil Cooler Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Drain the rear differential. Refer to Axle Lubricant Change (w/o Differential Cooler) Axle Lubricant Change (w/o Differential Cooler)Axle Lubricant Change (w Differential Cooler) Axle Lubricant Change (w Differential Cooler).





Note:
DO NOT reuse the differential oil cooler line retaining clips. Replace with NEW only.

3. Remove the differential oil cooler line retaining clips (1) from the oil cool line fittings.





4. Separate the differential oil cooler fittings (1) from the differential oil cooler lines.

5. Remove the differential oil cooler bolts (3).

Note:
Cover the open differential oil cooler lines with a clean shop towel so that the oil does not become contaminated.

6. Remove the differential oil cooler assembly (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure.





Note:
Ensure that the differential oil cooler fitting are seated properly on the oil cooler lines.

1. Install the differential oil cooler lines (1) in the differential cooler lines.

2. Position the differential oil cooler assembly (2) on the vehicle.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Tighten the differential oil cooler assembly bolts (3) to 40 Nm 30 lb ft.





4. Install the NEW differential oil cooler line fitting retaining clips (1).

5. Fill the rear differential with fluid. Refer to Axle Lubricant Change (w/o Differential Cooler) Axle Lubricant Change (w/o Differential Cooler)Axle Lubricant Change (w Differential Cooler) Axle Lubricant Change (w Differential Cooler)

6. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
