Liftgate Ajar Indicator Description and Operation

Rear Access Open Message

The liftgate control module detects the liftgate ratchet switch is closed to ground indicating the liftgate is open. The instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the liftgate control module indicating the liftgate ajar status and the driver information center displays the Rear Access Open message.
