Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
2. Place a collecting pan underneath the oil filter.
3. Remove the oil cap (1) and seal (2).
4. Remove and properly dispose of the oil filter insert (3).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
6. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) Service and RepairFront Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) Service and Repair.
7. Place a suitable drain below the oil pan drain plug.
8. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) and seal (2).
9. Allow the oil to drain completely.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a NEW seal (2) and oil pan drain plug (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
2. Remove the drain pan out of the way.
3. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) Service and RepairFront Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) Service and Repair.
4. Lower the vehicle.
Caution:
Lubrication must be applied to the threads of the oil filter cap prior to installation. Failure to lubricate the oil filter cap threads can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.
5. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.
6. Install a NEW oil filter (3)
Caution:
Proper oil filter cap tightening is mandatory. Failure to tighten the oil filter cap to the proper specification can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.
7. Install a NEW seal (2) and tighten the oil cap (1) to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
8. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations (USA and Canada) Fluids
9. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
10. Reset the oil life.
