Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Service Precautions.


1. Remove the rear compartment side trim panel door (Sedan,Coupe). Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe)

or the body side lower trim panel (Wagon). Refer to Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon) Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon)

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon)





3. Disconnect the positive battery cable by turning the handle (2) on the battery positive post.

4. Disconnect the battery vent hose.





5. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolts (1) and the battery hold down retainers (2).

6. Remove the battery (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the battery (3) to the vehicle.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the battery hold down retainers (2) and the battery hold down retainer bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).





3. Ensure the battery positive cable is seated properly.

4. Turn the battery positive cable handle (2) to secure the battery positive cable to the battery positive post.

5. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Coupe)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Sedan,Wagon)

Note:
Replacement batteries may require the vent plug in the battery vent hole to be moved from one end of the battery to the other to permit vent tube installation per original design.

6. Connect the battery vent hose.

7. Install the rear compartment side trim panel door (Sedan,Coupe). Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe)

or the body side lower trim panel (Wagon). Refer to Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon) Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon)
