Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The driver door lock/window switch and passenger door lock/window switch each provide a 12V signal to their respective door ajar switch signal circuits. The door ajar switches are integral to each door latch assembly. When a front door is opened, the normally open door ajar switch closes. With the door ajar switch closed, ground is provided to the door ajar switch signal circuit. The appropriate door lock/window switch will detect the voltage drop and send a serial data message to the BCM and the BCM will send a serial data message to the instrument panel cluster to display the door ajar icon.
The body control module (BCM) provides a 12 V signal to each rear door ajar switch signal circuits. When a rear door is opened, the normally open ajar switch closes. With the ajar switch closed, a ground path is provided to the ajar switch signal circuit. The BCM interprets this and communicates via serial data with the instrument panel cluster to display the door ajar icon.
