- Optical Media Drive Theft Locked

Circuit/System Description

When the remote optical drive is initially installed in the vehicle, it receives VIN information via serial data. The remote optical drive stores a portion of the VIN and compares this sequence to the VIN information received each time the remote optical drive powers on. The VIN in the remote optical drive is a single one-time learn.

The remote optical drive theft deterrent system is intended to disable or limit remote optical drive functionality if incorrect vehicle information is received by the remote optical drive. The remote optical drive disables functionality if the VIN information received by the remote optical drive does not match the VIN information that has been learned by the remote optical drive. This DTC is generated by the module when the Theft Protection is activated.

Conditions for Running the DTC

This test runs once per second while the remote optical drive is being accessed.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The remote optical drive has learned a correct VIN sequence and the VIN information received via serial data does NOT match the learned VIN sequence.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The remote optical drive may be disabled or have limited functionality.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The remote optical drive receives the correct VIN information via serial data.

Diagnostic Aids

A possible cause of incorrect VIN information could be the remote optical drive was originally installed in another vehicle.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON.

2. Verify DTC B12A8 is not set.

If DTC B12A8 is set
Replace the A33 media disc player.

If DTC B12A8 is not set

3. All OK.
