Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (J55)

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

3. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J64) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J64)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55).

4. Clean the wheel speed sensor mounting area on the steering knuckle of any accumulated dirt and debris.




5. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).

6. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.




7. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clip (1) from the steering knuckle.




8. Release the wheel speed sensor harness (1) from the steering knuckle.

9. Disconnect the electrical connector and release the wheel speed sensor harness clip (2) from the steering knuckle bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the wheel speed sensor harness (1) to the steering knuckle.

2. Connect the electrical connector and install the wheel speed sensor harness clip (2) to the steering knuckle bracket.




3. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clip (1) to the steering knuckle.




4. Install the wheel speed sensor to the wheel bearing and hub assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

5. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

6. Install the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J64) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J64)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55).

7. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

8. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
