Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (J64)
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Clean the wheel speed sensor mounting area on the suspension knuckle of any accumulated dirt and debris.
5. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).
6. Remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from the rear suspension knuckle.
7. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) from the upper suspension arm.
8. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) from the rear underbody crossmember.
9. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) from the wheelhouse panel.
10. Release the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector (2) from the harness bracket.
11. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector.
12. Remove the tape and separate the wheel speed sensor harness from the body wiring harness conduit.
13. Remove the wheel speed sensor.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the wheel speed sensor harness to the body wiring harness conduit and secure the conduit with tape.
2. Install the harness conduit to the vehicle.
3. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) to the wheelhouse panel.
4. Install the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector (2) to the harness bracket.
5. Connect the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector.
6. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) to the rear underbody crossmember.
7. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) to the upper suspension arm.
8. Install the wheel speed sensor (1) to the rear suspension knuckle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
9. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
10. Install the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement Service and Repair.
11. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
12. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
