Instrument Panel Compartment Door Release System Components

* Body control module (BCM)

* Glove compartment release switch

* Instrument panel compartment door unlatch actuator

Instrument Panel Compartment Door Release Operation

When the glove compartment release switch is pressed, the instrument panel compartment release switch signal circuit is switched to ground. The BCM responds by applying battery voltage to the relay control circuit which energizes the relay. The relay is supplied with battery voltage at all times from a 10A fuse. With the relay coil energized, the relay switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to be supplied to the instrument panel compartment door unlatch actuator causing the actuator to release. The glove compartment release switch ground is part of instrument panel multifunction switch 2.
