Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Crankcase Front Cover:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Serpentine drive belt.
3. Serpentine drive belt tensioner.
4. Install engine support fixture 3 28467-A.
5. Engine mount assembly.
6. Generator rear brace.
7. Generator.
8. Power steering pump and position aside with lines attached.
9. Raise vehicle and support.
10. Oil pan.
11. Crankshaft pulley and hub.
12. Front cover bolts.
13. Front cover. If difficult to remove, use a rubber mallet to loosen cover.

CLEAN: Sealing surface on engine block and crankcase front cover.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Front cover gasket.
2. Front cover and bolts.

TIGHTEN
^ Bolts to 11 Nm (97 lbs. in.).

3. Crankshaft pulley and hub.
4. Oil pan.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Power steering pump.
7. Generator.
8. Generator rear brace.
9. Engine mount assembly.
10. Remove engine support fixture J 28467-A.
11. Serpentine drive belt tensioner.
12. Serpentine drive belt.
13. Negative battery cable.
