1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with 3.4L Engine (VIN X - RPO LQ1)

This bulletin is being issued to inform technicians of a revision to page 3 of 3 for DTC P1650 Quad Driver Module (QDM) "B" Error 3.4L (VIN X)(SFI).

The first diagnostic box on page 3 of 3 is in error. It reads as follows:

^ Use facing page wiring diagram for specific terminals to be tested.

^ Reconnect PCM, if applicable.

^ Key "ON", Engine "OFF", select field service mode with Tech 1.

^ Remove connector from solenoid in affected circuit.

^ Connect test light between terminals for ignition feed and PCM driver circuit.

^ Light should be "ON". Is it?


There is no field service mode capability on the scan tool for the 1994 W car with the 3.4L (VIN X) engine. Substitute the current steps in the first box with the following:

^ Use facing page wiring diagram for specific terminals to be tested.

^ Reconnect PCM, if applicable.

^ Key "ON", Engine "OFF", Under Misc. Tests, select transmission with Tech 1.

^ Disconnect transaxle connector.

^ Connect test light between transaxle harness connector terminals for ignition teed and affected solenoid driver circuit.

^ Turn affected solenoid "ON" with the Tech 1.

^ Light should be "ON". Is it?

In addition to inserting the new information for the first diagnostic box, remove all references to "Field Service Mode".
