REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Check the distributor assembly ventilation system for proper operation.
- Refer to Distributor / Description and Operation. Description and Operation
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness connector.
4. Air intake duct.
5. Serpentine drive belt.

10. Crankshaft torsional damper.
11. Belt tensioner.
CAUTION: Make sure all coolant has been wiped off distributor and surrounding area before disconnecting any electrical connectors or spark plug wire harness assemblies.
12. Spark plug (secondary) cables from distributor. Twist a boot 1/2 turn before removing and pull only on the boot to remove wire from distributor.
13. Four-terminal PCM connector from distributor.
14. Vacuum harness assembly from distributor assembly.
CAUTION: Do not allow foreign material to enter open vacuum lines. Cap ends as necessary.
15. Distributor bolts/screws.
16. Distributor assembly.
- Pull distributor assembly forward until coupling disengages from end of camshaft assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Distributor assembly.
A. Rotate distributor coupling until camshaft sprocket pin slot aligns with camshaft sprocket pin. plug. The spark voltage is delivered to the distributor through the coil output (secondary) wire, and then directed to the proper spark plug connector by the distributor rotor.
B. Slide distributor assembly onto end of camshaft assembly until fully seated on engine front cover.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to fully seat distributor assembly using bolts/screws. If distributor assembly will not seat by hand, it is not properly aligned with camshaft assembly. Rotate crankshaft until engine is at number 1 cylinder TDC (camshaft sprocket pin at the 9 o'clock position). Rotate the distributor coupling until the camshaft sprocket pin slot aligns with the distributor base timing mark. Install distributor assembly using hand pressure to fully seat.
2. Distributor bolts/screws.
