Right Side Of Engine:

Knock Sensor

Removal Procedure

Caution: The knock sensor is mounted in the engine block cooling passage. Engine coolant in the block will drain when the knock sensor is removed. Engine coolant may be hot.

Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System.

2. Raise the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring harness connector from the knock sensor (4).

4. Remove the knock sensor (4) from the engine block.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the knock sensor (4) into the engine block. Be sure the threads are clean. Do not apply thread sealant to the sensor threads. Torque the knock sensor to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).

2. Connect the knock sensor wiring harness connector to the knock sensor.

3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Refill the Engine coolant.
