Positive Battery Cable

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
CAUTION: Refer to "Service Precautions".
1. Battery.
2. Positive cable-to-junction block nut (6) and positive lead (24) from junction block positive terminal stud (14).
3. Positive cable-to-generator nut (18) and positive cable from generator (21).
^ Reposition boot covering connection.
4. Positive cable (1) from cable clips (16) at engine lift bracket and engine cooling fans.
5. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
6. Positive cable (1) from cable clip (16) at power steering reservoir bracket.
7. Positive cable clip nut (11) attaching harness clamp (17), and RF (Radio Frequency) ground strap (10) to engine mount.
8. Positive cable-to-starter nut (12) and positive cable (1) from starter solenoid switch.
9. Positive battery cable (1).
INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTICE: Refer to "Service Precautions".
Before installing positive battery cable to starter solenoid switch, be sure solenoid terminal is secure in cap by and push nut next to cap is tight. If terminal is not tight in solenoid cap, the cap may be damaged during installation of the positive battery cable and cause starter failure later.
1. Positive battery cable (1).
2. Positive cable (1) and positive cable-to-starter nut (12) to starter solenoid switch.
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-starter nut (12) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
3. RF (Radio Frequency) ground strap (10), harness clamp (17) and positive cable clip nut (11) to engine mount.
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable clip nut (11) to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).
4. Positive cable (1) to cable clip (16) at power steering reservoir bracket.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Positive cable (1) to cable clips (16) at engine cooling fans and engine lift bracket
7. Positive cable (1) and positive cable-to-generator nut (18) to generator (21).
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-generator nut (18) to 22 N.m (16 lb. ft.).
A. Carefully slide boot over positive cable (1) and generator (21) connection.
8. Positive lead (24) and positive cable-to-junction block nut (6) to junction block positive terminal stud (14).
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-junction block nut (6) to 6 N.m (53 lb. in.).
9. Battery.
