Starter Motor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDUREStarter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe assembly from the vehicle.
3. Remove the positive battery cable from the starter motor.
Starter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
4. Remove the S terminal nut, wire and washer from the starter motor.
Starter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
5. Support the starter motor.
6. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts.
7. Remove the starter motor from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Starter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
1. Position the starter motor on the vehicle.
2. Support the starter motor.
3. Install the starter motor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).
Starter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
4. Install the starter motor S terminal washer, wire and nut.
Tighten
Tighten the S terminal nut to 4 N-m (35 Lb in).
Starter Motor Replacement: Removal Procedure:
5. Connect the positive battery cable at the starter motor.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
6. Install the intermediate exhaust pipe assembly to the vehicle.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
