Blower Motor Switch: Service and Repair

HVAC Vacuum Connector:

Remove or Disconnect

1. Accessory trim plate.
^ Pull accessory trim plate rearward and off instrument panel lower trim pad.
2. HVAC control bolts.
3. HVAC control.
^ Pull control out far enough to reach the vacuum, electrical and temperature control cable connections.
4. HVAC mode switch connector (1).
5. HVAC control illumination connector (2).
6. Blower motor switch connector (3).
7. Vacuum harness connector from vacuum selector valve.
8. Temperature control cable from control (5).
^ While releasing temperature control cable clips from control, pry temperature control cable with small screwdriver from control.
9. Rear defogger switch connector (4).

Inspect
^ Electrical terminals for corrosion. Remove corrosion or replace component as necessary.
^ Temperature and mode knobs for freedom of movement. Lubricate, repair or replace as necessary.
^ Temperature control cable for kinks, binding and other damage. Adjust, repair or replace as necessary.

Install or Connect

1. Rear defogger switch connector (4).
2. Temperature control cable from control (5).
3. Vacuum harness connector from vacuum selector valve.
4. Blower motor switch connector (3).
5. HVAC control illumination connector (2).
6. HVAC mode switch connector (1).
7. HVAC control.
8. HVAC control bolts.

Tighten
^ HVAC control bolts to 1.9 N.m (17 lb. in.).

9. Accessory trim plate.

Important
^ Test operation of temperature control knob, mode control knob and blower motor switch.

Control Lamp Bulb

Remove or Disconnect

1. Accessory trim plate.
^ Pull accessory trim plate forward and off instrument panel lower trim pad.
2. HVAC control bolts.
3. Control.
^ Pull control out far enough to reach control lamp bulb socket.
4. Bulb and socket by twisting socket.
5. Bulb from socket.
^ Pull bulb straight out from socket.

Inspect
^ Control lamp bulb socket for corrosion and damage. Clean or replace as necessary.
^ Wires for damage and secure connection to bulb socket. Repair or replace as necessary.

Install or Connect

1. New bulb.
^ Push bulb straight into socket.
2. Bulb and socket by twisting socket into place.
3. Control.
4. HVAC control bolts.

Tighten
^ HVAC control bolts to 1.9 N.m (17 lb. in.).

5. Accessory trim plate.
