Automatic Transmission Mount Replacement

^ Tools Required

^ J28467-B Universal Engine Support Fixture

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air intake duct.





2. Disconnect the TV cable, if equipped.
3. Remove the power brake booster check valve and hose.
4. Install the engine support fixture.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
6. Remove the engine mount strut.
7. Remove the left front tire and the wheel assembly.
8. Remove the left front fender liner.
9. Remove the crossmember.





10. Remove the left front ABS wheel speed sensor connector.





11. Remove the harness from the suspension support.
12. Remove the left front ball joint.
13. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the left lower control arm.
14. Remove the front suspension support.
15. Remove the left side drive axle from the transmission.
16. Remove the transmission cooler pipes. Plug in order to prevent leakage.
17. Remove the P/S Pressure line from the P/S gear.
18. Remove the P/S return line from the P/S gear. Plug in order to prevent leakage.





19. Remove the transmission mount to body bolts.





20. Remove the pipe expansion bolt from the transmission support assembly.
21. Lower the engine and the transmission assembly just enough to be able to remove the transmission support assembly and the mount assembly.





22. Remove the transmission mount from the transmission support assembly.





23. Remove the transmission support assembly bolts.





24. Remove the transmission support assembly.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the transmission support assembly into the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the transmission support assembly bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the transmission mount to the transmission support assembly.
4. Raise the engine and the transmission assembly.





5. Install the transmission mount to body bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 66 Nm (49 ft. lbs.).





6. Install the transmission pipe expansion bolt to the transmission support assembly.
^ Tighten the bolt to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the P/S Pressure line to the P/S gear.
8. Install the P/S return line to the P/S gear.
9. Install the transmission cooler lines.
10. Install the left drive axle to the transmission.
11. Install the front suspension support.
12. Install the stabilizer shaft to the left lower control arm.
13. Install the left front ball joint.





14. Route the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.





15. Connect the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.
16. Install the crossmember.
17. Install the left front fender liner.
18. Install the left front tire and the wheel assembly.
19. Install the engine mount strut.
20. Lower the vehicle.





21. Remove the engine support fixture.
22. Install the power brake booster check valve and hose.
23. Install the TV cable, if equipped.
24. Install the air intake duct.
25. Adjust the P/S oil level.
26. Inspect the transmission oil level.
27. Inspect the transmission for oil leaks.
