Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the suction hose nut at the accumulator and position the suction hose aside.




4. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the accumulator and position the A/C compressor hose aside.




5. Remove the accumulator bracket bolt.
6. Remove the accumulator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the accumulator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the accumulator bracket bolt.

Tighten
Tighter the bolt to 4 N.m (36 lb in).




3. Install new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor hose and the suction hose.
4. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
5. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).




6. Connect the suction hose to the accumulator
7. Tighten the suction hose nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).

8. Install the air cleaner assembly.
9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
