Cigarette Lighter: Service and Repair

CIGAR LIGHTER HOUSING REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 42059 Cigar Lighter Socket Remover

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the cigar lighter fuse.
2. Remove the cigar lighter element (2).
3. Remove the cigar lighter housing (4) by placing one side of the "T" portion of J 42059 (3) into the tab opening inside the housing. Angle the other side of J 42059 into the other tab opening inside the housing.Remove the housing by pulling the tool rearward from the I/P trim plate (1).
4. Remove the tool from the lighter housing.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the lighter housing.
6. Remove the lighter retainer (5) by pulling out with your index finger.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the lighter retainer (4) with the key to the slot into the I/P accessory trim plate (1).
2. Install the lighter retainer, pressing the retainer into place until fully seated.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the lighter housing (3).
4. Align the lighter housing to the splines on the retainer and press into place until fully seated.
5. Install the lighter fuse.
6. Install the lighter element (2).
7. Inspect the lighter for proper operation.
