A/C - Booming Noise at Idle With A/C ON

Boom Noise in A/C at Idle (Install Rubber Grommet Between Radiator and Discharge Pipe)

Attention:
This bulletin only applies to US and Canadian dealers.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a boom noise at idle when the A/C is operating.

Cause

The resonance of the A/C discharge pipe by the compressor pumping pressure may cause this condition.

Correction

Install a rubber damping grommet, P/N 96887033, between the radiator and the discharge pipe using the following procedure.

Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.





Place the rubber grommet (3) as shown above between the radiator and the discharge pipe (1).








Fit the rubber grommet over the pipe by turning in a clockwise direction as shown above.





Position the grommet (1) to make the bottom of the grommet come in contact with the side of the radiator as shown above.
