Cooling System - Radiator Coolant Leaks

Subject: Radiator/Coolant Leak (Replace Radiator, Attach Foam Tape to Fan Shroud and Add Washer to Upper Mounting Bracket)

This bulletin is being revised to update the Warranty Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-06-02-002A (Section 06 - Engine).



Condition

Some customers may comment on a radiator coolant leak.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the fan shroud rubbing on the radiator causing the radiator to leak.

Correction

Technicians are to replace the radiator, attach foam tape to the fan shroud and add a washer to the upper mounting bracket to prevent further damage to the radiator using the procedure below.

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in SI.
2. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in SI.
3. Install the new radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in SI.





4. Before reinstalling the fan shroud, add the foam tape (1) as shown in the photo above.
5. Before reinstalling the upper mounting bolt, add a washer (outer diameter: 20 mm; inner diameter: 10 mm; thickness: 3.5 mm) between the fan shroud and radiator (2).
