Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Circuit/System Description

The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) are responsible for checking the critical temperature of their respective window motors at least once every 50 milliseconds. When the DDM or PDM detects a critical temperature in the window motor, a DTC will be set. For more detailed information concerning power window operation refer to Power Windows Description and Operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

When the DDM or PDM detects a critical temperature in the window motor, DTC B1011 will be set.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

* Window indexing down is still functional.
* Normal functional requests are possible until the window is completely closed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.

Diagnostic Aids

The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:

* An intermittent sticking or binding window causing excessive current draw resulting in a critical temperature fault
* An internally shorted window motor

Circuit/System Testing

Ignition ON, install a scan tool, clear all DTCs and operate the windows within the Conditions for Running the DTC.

If DTC B1011 resets as current, replace the appropriate door control module.
