Front Side Door Lock Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front door trim panel.
2. Remove the front door water deflector.




3. Remove the rods from the inside door handle (1).
4. Remove the clip securing the rods to the front door.
5. Remove the outside door handle.




6. Remove the screws (1, 2, 3) securing the lock to the front door.
7. Remove the lock from the front door with the inside rods attached to the lock.




8. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
9. Remove the window guides from the lock.
10. Remove the inside door handle rods from the lock.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the inside door handle rods to the lock (1).
2. Install the front door window guides to the lock assembly.
3. Connect the electrical connectors.




4. Install the door lock in position through the access hole in the door inner panel.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Install the door lock screws in the proper fastener tightening sequence. First install the top screw (1), then the bottom screw (2) and lastly the middle screw (3).

Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




6. Install a new clip to connect the outside handle rod to the door lock lever.
7. Position the rod (1) in the clip in order to eliminate any free play in the outside door handle.




8. Install the clip cover over the threaded rod.
9. Install the clip to the inside handle rods.
10. Install the inside handle rods to the handle.
11. Install the water deflector.
12. Install the trim panel.
13. Inspect the door lock system for proper operation.
