Starter Motor Replacement (LZ4)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the torque converter cover bolts.
4. Remove the torque converter cover.




5. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the starter motor.




6. Remove the positive battery cable nut (3) from the starter solenoid.
7. Remove the positive battery cable (1) and the engine wiring harness (2) terminal from the starter solenoid.




8. Remove the starter motor bolts.
9. Remove the starter motor.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the starter motor.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the starter motor bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).




3. Install the engine wiring harness (2) terminal and the positive battery cable (1) to the starter solenoid.
4. Install the positive battery cable nut (3) to the starter solenoid.

Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the starter motor.




6. Install the torque converter cover.
7. Install the torque converter cover bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
