DTC C0897

Circuit Description

The power steering control module (PSCM) receives a power mode message from the body control module (BCM) via the serial data circuit. When a power mode ON message is received, the PSCM compares it to the state of its ignition 1 voltage circuit.

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC C0897 Device Power Moding Error

This vehicle has DTCs which include DTC symptoms. For more information on DTC symptoms, refer to DTC Symptom Description.





Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The PSCM power mode message and the state of the ignition 1 circuit do not agree.
* The PSCM ignition 1 voltage circuit is shorted to ground, or open.
* DTCs U2100, U2105, U2107, or U2109 are not set.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC C0897 00 is stored in memory.
* The DIC displays the POWER STEERING warning message.
* Steering assist is present for the remainder of the ignition cycle but will not be present on the following ignition ON cycle if the malfunction still exists.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

* A current DTC will clear when the malfunction is no longer present.
* A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles.
* Using a scan tool
