62. Coolant Crossover Pipe Cleaning and Inspection
Coolant Crossover Pipe Cleaning and Inspection
Caution: Refer to Cleaning Solvent Caution.
1. Clean the coolant crossover pipe with solvent.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution.
2. Dry the coolant crossover pipe with compressed air.
3. Inspect the front of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
^ Damage to the coolant fill adapter sealing surface (1)
^ Damage or restrictions to the radiator hose connection (2)
^ Damage or restrictions to the thermal bypass hose connection (3)
^ Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages
^ Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads
^ Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes
4. Inspect the rear of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
^ Damage to the heater inlet/outlet sealing surface (1)
^ Damage to the coolant crossover pipe-to-cylinder head sealing surfaces (2)
^ Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages
^ Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads
^ Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes
5. Repair or replace the coolant crossover pipe as necessary.
