EI08108 - Various Inoperative Electrical Systems, DTC Intermittent Electrical Wire Harness Repair (Engineering Information)

Attention:
Proceed with this bulletin ONLY if the customer has commented about this concern AND the EI number is listed in GMVIS. If the customer has not commented about this condition or the EI does not show in GMVIS disregard this bulletin and proceed with diagnostics found in published Service Information (SI).

Condition

Some customers may comment that one or more electrical systems are not operating properly. Warranty claims have been submitted that show repairing a wire harness has corrected the concern.

Cause

GM Engineering would like to understand the conditions and causes that lead to wire harness repair. PRIOR to completion of any wiring repairs complete the following steps and document the information on the repair order.

Important:
Clock times must be recorded on the repair order with documentation for diagnosis and repair. Clock time will be used for submitting the warranty claim.

1. Perform regular diagnosis of the customers concern as recommended in SI.

2. If a wire harness requires repair, photograph the harness showing the area needing repair. If the harness is damaged, photograph what caused the damage.

3. Complete the wire harness repair as needed.

4. Describe the repair on the repair order listing the customer concern cause and correction.

5. Did this correct the customers concern?

^ Yes - proceed to Step 6.

^ No - continue to diagnose and repair the customers concern. Proceed to Step 6.

6. E-mail the photographs of the damaged harness. Fax a copy of the completed repair order (front and back).
