CHANGE ENGINE OIL

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message in the driver information center (DIC) when the engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil life remaining is low and the engine oil needs to be changed. The ECM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting the display of the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message. After the engine oil is changed, reset the engine oil life monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting (Service and Repair) .


CHECK OIL LEVEL

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the CHECK OIL LEVEL message in the driver information center (DIC) when the engine control module (ECM) detects a low engine oil level condition. The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch and sends a serial data message to the IPC to display the CHECK OIL LEVEL message in the DIC.


ICE POSSIBLE

The driver information center (DIC) displays the ICE POSSIBLE message when the ambient air temperature drops below 2°C (36°F). When the temperature rises above 5.5°C (42°F) the ICE POSSIBLE message turns off. The IPC receives a serial data message indicating the ambient air temperature from the body control module (BCM).


Km/h and MPH Indicator(s)
km/h
- The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the km/h indicator when the IPC detects that Metric units have been requested. The IPC sends a serial data message to the HUD indicating the requested unit.

MPH
- The IPC illuminates the mph indicator when the IPC detects that English units have been requested. The IPC sends a serial data to the HUD message indicating the requested unit.




LOW FUEL

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the LOW FUEL message in the driver information center (DIC) when the ECM detects that the fuel level is less than a pre-determined value. The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the low fuel level condition.


LOW OIL PRESSURE

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the LOW OIL PRESSURE message in the driver information center (DIC) when the ECM detects a low engine oil pressure condition. The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM requesting the display of the LOW OIL PRESSURE message.


SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON message in the DIC when the IPC detects certain malfunctions not related to the vehicle emissions system.
