Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the intake manifold cover.
2. Remove the left inner fender brace.
3. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body.
4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body.
5. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube from the air inlet duct.




6. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) pump hose quick connect fitting (1) from the air cleaner housing cover.




7. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
8. Remove the upper air cleaner housing from the lower housing. Disengage the tabs on the upper housing from the slots on the lower housing.
9. Without disconnecting the powertrain control module (PCM) connectors, remove the PCM and the harness from the lower air cleaner housing.
10. Without disconnecting the transmission control module (TCM) connectors, remove the TCM and the harness from the lower air cleaner housing.
11. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the air cleaner assembly.
12. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the air cleaner.




13. Remove the lower air cleaner housing by pulling the housing from the 2 rubber grommets on the inner rail.
14. Inspect the air cleaner housing assembly for signs of damage and replace if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the lower air cleaner housing by pushing the housing down, into the 2 rubber grommets on the inner rail.
2. Install the TCM and the harness to the lower air cleaner housing.
3. Install the PCM and the harness to the lower air cleaner housing.




4. Connect the AIR pump hose quick connect fitting (1) to the air cleaner housing cover.




5. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the air cleaner assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

6. Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the air cleaner assembly.

Tighten the clamp to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

7. Install the upper air cleaner housing to the lower housing. Engage the tabs on the upper housing to the slots on the lower housing.
8. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.




9. Connect the PCV tube to the air inlet duct.
10. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the throttle body.
11. Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body.

Tighten the clamp to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

12. Install the left inner fender brace.
13. Install the intake manifold cover.
