Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution .
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPO LS4) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) .
3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
4. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .




5. Remove the tilt lever.




6. Remove the 2 retaining screws from the lower steering column trim cover.




7. Separate the upper steering column cover from the lower steering column cover and remove them from the steering column.



Installation Procedure


Important: Make sure that the tabs from the upper steering column cover line up to the lower steering column cover and engage properly.






1. Position the upper steering column cover and the lower steering column cover together on the steering column.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

2. Install the 2 retaining screws to the lower steering column trim cover.

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).





3. Install the tilt lever.
4. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
5. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
6. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPO LS4) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) .
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
