THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALERSHIP/RETAILER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP/RETAIL FACILITY FOR ANY REASON, AND WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.
Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the Intake Manifold Tuning (IMT) Valve on certain 2008 model year Chevrolet Malibu; Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura vehicles, equipped with a 3.6L V6 (RPO LY7 - VIN 7) engine.
This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer/retailer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealership/retail facility for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.
Vehicles Involved
IMPORTANT:
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the system below. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
-- GM dealers, Saturn Canada retailers should use GMVIS
-- Saturn US retailers should use the "Investigate Vehicle History" Ink on the Global Warranty Management application within Dealer World.

Service Procedure
Engine in Vehicle (Behind PS Reservoir)
1. Open the vehicle hood and locate the IMT Valve (1) on the engine.
IMT Valve Cover Code Location
2. Compare the vehicles IMT Valve Code with the list of suspect codes of IMT Valves to be replaced*.
Refer to table shown above.
*Refer to the GM Messenger (US)/Dealer Communication (Canada) (Not shown with this copy of bulletin) attached icon List of Suspect Codes of IMT Valves to be Replaced. There is a total of 1,312 suspect IMT Valve Codes.
3. If the vehicle valve code matches any of the listed suspect codes, refer to the appropriate SI Service Procedure and replace the vehicle IMT Valve with a new Valve.
4. If the valve code does not match, do not replace the IMT Valve.
