Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the rear compartment floor mat.
2. Record all of the vehicle preset radio stations.
3. Ensure that all lamps and accessories are OFF.
4. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
5. Loosen the negative battery cable (2) bolt.
6. Remove the negative battery cable (3) from the battery.

Installation Procedure





Note: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and battery cable using a wire brush before installing the battery cable to the battery terminal.

1. Position the negative battery cable (3) to the battery.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Tighten the negative battery cable bolt (2) and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).
3. Install the rear compartment floor mat.
4. Reset the radio stations and the clock.
