Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement




Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LS3, LS7) (6.2L, 7.0L)

Special Tools

J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Disengage tension on the radiator inlet hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
4. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (2) from the radiator.




5. Disengage tension on the radiator inlet hose clamp (1) at the water pump using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
6. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (2) from the water pump.
7. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Caution: Make sure the reference marks on the hoses and the radiator are lined up. A twist on the hose would place strain on the radiator fitting which could cause the fitting to crack or break.

Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hose with clean coolant prior to installation.

1. Install the radiator inlet hose to the vehicle.




2. Connect the radiator inlet hose (2) to the water pump.
3. Engage tension on the radiator inlet hose clamp (1) at the water pump using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.




4. Connect the radiator inlet hose (2) to the radiator.
5. Engage tension on the radiator inlet hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
6. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Service and Repair).
