Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) (Service and Repair).
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
Note: Clean the area around the CKP before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine.
5. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt.
6. Remove the CKP sensor.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the CKP sensor.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the CKP sensor retaining bolt.
Tighten the CKP sensor to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
3. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming (N. America and Japan, except Canada) (Programming and Relearning)Transmitter Programming (Canada and Europe) (Programming and Relearning)Transmitter Programming (New RCDLR ONLY) (Programming and Relearning).
8. Perform the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn (Service and Repair).
