TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 09-08-110-016

Date: June 26, 2009

Subject: Rear Glass Inner Molding Loose (Apply Adhesive)

Models:
2007-2009 Corvette Coupe, Z06 and ZR1

Condition

Some customers may comment that the inner rear window glass molding is loose.

The molding may be loose or hanging in the top center area of the window where the two sides of the molding meet.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a lack of tension in the molding assembly. When the sun load increases the vehicle cabin temperature, the molding may loosen from the edge of the rear compartment lift window panel (liftgate) and sag.

Correction

Important
Do not replace the rear window glass molding to correct this condition.

1. Locate the center joint of the inner rear glass molding and apply a section of masking tape to the inner liftgate. Mark the center joint location on the masking tape.
2. Pull the molding loose from the inner liftgate on both sides of the center joint.
3. Clean the inner liftgate and the molding with a general purpose adhesive cleaner in the area to be bonded.

4. Apply a 26 mm (1 in) long bead of weatherstrip adhesive, such as GM Weatherstrip Adhesive Gel - Black, P/N 12345097 (in Canada, P/N 10953479) or the equivalent, to the inner liftgate flange. Use the mark on the masking tape to center the adhesive bead.
5. Remove the masking tape.

6. Reinstall the glass molding.
7. Clean up any excess adhesive with general purpose adhesive cleaner.
