Front Door: Adjustments




Front Side Door Adjustment

Up/Down or In/Out Adjustment




1. Open the font door to access the front door hinge bolts.

Note: Do not remove the front door hinge bolts.

2. Loosen the front door side hinge bolts.




3. Pry off the washer from the lower bolt on the lower hinge (Impala only).




4. Adjust the front door up or down and in and out as required.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Tighten the door side hinge bolts.

Tighten the front door hinge to door bolts to 33 Nm (24 lb ft).

Fore/Aft Adjustment

Note: Do not remove the bolts.




1. Loosen the body side hinge bolts (1).

Note: Do not remove the cone adjuster bolt.

2. Loosen the body side hinge cone adjuster bolt (3) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).

Note: Do not remove the TORX(R) bolt (2).

3. Loosen the TORX(R) body side hinge bolt (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).
4. Adjust the door fore and aft as required.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Tighten the TORX(R) body side hinge bolt (2) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).

Tighten the TORX(R) body side hinge bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

6. Tighten the cone adjuster side hinge bolt (3) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).

Tighten the cone adjuster side hinge bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

7. Tighten the body side hinge bolts (1).

Tighten the door hinge to body bolts to 33 Nm (24 lb ft).
