Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement (RPO LS4-5.3L)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPO LS4) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the right front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Reposition the positive battery cable terminal cover (1).
4. Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut.
5. Remove the positive battery cable terminal from the battery.
6. Reposition the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement (Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement).




7. Remove the battery retainer bolts (1) and retainer (2).
8. With the aid of an assistant, remove the battery.

Installation Procedure




1. With the aid of an assistant, install the battery.
2. Install the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement (Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the battery retainer (2) and bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).




4. Install the positive battery cable terminal to the battery.
5. Tighten the positive battery cable terminal nut.

Tighten the nut to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

6. Position the positive battery cable terminal cover (2).
7. Install the right front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPO LS4) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ8) (Service and Repair).
