Parking Brake Shoe Inspection




Parking Brake Shoe Inspection

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Replacement).
4. Remove the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
5. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).
6. Inspect and replace the park brake shoe and lining if any of the following conditions are found:

* Excessive wear indicated by the park brake lining being worn down to the shoe
* Brake lining cracking
* Oil or fluid contamination of the brake lining

7. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (Adjustments).
8. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).
9. Install the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement).
10. Install the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Brake Caliper Replacement).
11. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
12. Lower the vehicle.
