Subject: Rattle Noise in Rear Window Panel Trim (Install Adhesive-Backed Shim Stock)

Models:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle type noise coming from the rear window trim panel area.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the quarter upper rear trim panel(s) making contact with the rear window panel trim.

Correction
Use the following steps to apply adhesive-backed shim stock (closed cell foam) material to the quarter upper rear trim panel(s). This material will isolate the two panels from making contact.

1. Remove the quarter upper rear trim on the affected side. Refer to Quarter Upper Rear Trim Panel Replacement in SI.

2. Prepare a piece of 15 mm x 3 mm (5/8 in x 1/8 in) adhesive-backed shim stock material, such as Kent Industries* # P40100, or the equivalent. Cut to fit as shown.

3. Install the prepared piece of shim stock as shown.

4. Install the quarter upper rear trim on the affected side. Refer to Quarter Upper Rear Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
