J-22610 - Keystone Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).





Note: Note the number of turns necessary in order to remove the inner tie rod nut (5).

2. Remove the inner tie rod nut from the inner tie rod (3).

Note: The outer boot retaining clamp (4) is a single use part.

3. Remove the outer boot retaining clamp.
Discard the clamp.

Note: The inner boot clamp (1) is a single use part.

4. Remove the inner boot clamp.
Discard the clamp.
5. Remove the boot (2) from the inner tie rod.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the boot (2) to the inner tie rod (3).
2. Install the NEW inner boot clamp (1).
3. Crimp the inner boot clamp with the J-22610 - Pliers or equivalent.
4. Install the NEW outer boot retaining clamp (4).

Note: Install the inner tie rod nut (5) with the same number of turns as recorded during removal.

5. Install the inner tie rod nut (5) to the inner tie rod.
6. Install the outer tie rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).
